What the Day Looks Like
As a Sainsbury’s Home Delivery Driver, your main duty is to drive a 3.5 tonne van and deliver groceries to customers, ensuring quality and punctuality.
You’ll start the day by checking the van for organisation and safety before loading up shopping containers, some weighing up to 15kg.
You’ll answer any questions customers have, offer substitution recommendations when needed, and keep them updated on delays.
When not out delivering, you’ll pitch in around the store, gaining skills in various store tasks and assisting the team.
The schedule is fast-paced, physical, and sometimes requires you to work alone, but a supportive team is nearby.

Enjoy free food and hot drinks in store, matched pension contributions, and access to a shares scheme at discounted rates for lasting value.
There is also a focus on wellbeing with an Employee Assistance Programme for all, ensuring access to confidential support and guidance when needed.
Possíveis desvantagens
Many delivery drivers report not getting paid breaks, which can affect your overall income, and some find it difficult to take sick leave.
Not everyone receives extra hours or overtime, and shift patterns may change at short notice, leading to uncertainty in your work schedule.
Other Considerations
Support for career progression and training is generally good, but some employees feel they don’t always get opportunities to progress further in their role.
While the initial training is robust, ongoing development and promotion opportunities are less common, according to employee feedback.
